Our Vision
‘Revive believers, reach friends and renew culture’
We at Midlands Anglican want to be reflective of who we are as God’s people in the Midlands of Tasmania.
There are three core activities that are in this statement.
1. Revive believers
The statement “revive believers” is an acknowledgement that as believers our faith is being continually renewed and through our understanding of God, as revealed in his word, our minds are being constantly transformed (Romans 12:1-2).
This phrase also acknowledges that there are seasons in our spiritual lives that can be dry and barren and that cry out for the renewing work of God’s Spirit (Ezekiel 37:1-14); that this renewal will be through God’s activity among us and that it is God who brings the growth (1 Corinthians 3:6).
2. Reach friends
This is a tacit acknowledgement that most people come to Christ through the faithful witness and sharing of a Christian family member or friend with whom they are in a relationship with and which is valued. It is also an acknowledgement the good news of Jesus is good news for all and that as his followers we have a responsibility, given by Jesus that we are obliged to fulfil (Matthew 28:19ff).
Good news is for sharing and we are convinced that Jesus is still good news in 21st century Australia.
3. Renew Culture
A strong, vibrant, outwardly thinking church should by its life and vitality have an effect on the community in which it is placed. It is an acknowledgement that God’s people in every age should have a renewing and revitalizing role within society.
